What is your service area? Where do you build?
Ashwin Building Company is a local, family owned-building company. We build semi-custom and fully custom homes, additions and remodels throughout Oakland, Livingston and Wayne counties. The majority of our customers’ homes are in Brighton, Northville and Plymouth, MI.
Are you fully licensed and insured?
Yes. Ashwin Building Company is licensed by the state of Michigan and fully insured. In addition, we only work with sub-contractors that are fully licensed and insured.

How long does it take to build a home?
Ashwin Building Company will provide you with a build schedule and time estimate before we get started so you are comfortable with the timeline. As you can imagine, a range of factors come into play, including the type of home selected, the design process, site development, permit acquisition and the construction itself. Rest assured, we will do our best to complete your build on time and within budget!
Do I need to own land for my new home?
If you already own a lot and are ready to build on it, great! Otherwise, we can help you find the perfect blank canvas for your new house. There’s no need to own land before starting this journey. We can provide plenty of homesite options to choose from throughout Oakland, Livingston and Wayne counties. Please contact us to get started today!
Do you use contractors to build new homes?
How do I pay for my custom home?
Assuming you hold title to the property on which the home will be built, you would most likely secure a construction loan from a local bank or financial institution for the cost of the construction. We would invoice you monthly for the percentage (%) of work completed and your lender would then complete an on-site inspection to confirm our numbers. The lender would issue a “draw” to you with which to pay us. This process would be followed each month until completion. Upon completion, you could convert your construction loan to a permanent mortgage.
Do I need to hire an architect to design/plan my new home?
When it comes to home-building, having the right blueprints is essential. We're happy to provide our clients with a convenient connection to trusted architects or accept blueprints from any architect our clients' selects on their own.
What is the best time of year to build a new home in Michigan?
We build homes year-round! We're Michiganders and can handle anything Mother Nature sends our way.

How much should I budget for home remodeling?
The budget for your home remodel largely depends on the type and scope of the project and the cost of materials, among additional factors. Each project is unique according to the existing structure, the size of the project and the wants and needs of each client. What types of renovation work do you offer?
Ashwin Building Company does it all, including whole home remodeling, kitchen and bath remodeling, seamless additions and outdoor living space renovations. We can also help business owners renovate and update their workspaces, such as doctors’ offices, retail stores and more.
Do I need blueprints for remodeling projects/additions?
It depends on the size and scale of the project. Most cosmetic renovations do not require engineering or other types of blueprints. However, big projects like additions do require them. If you’re not working with an architect already, we can refer you to high-quality architects that can create your blueprints.
Do I have to worry about any permits?
Rest assured, Ashwin Building Company will file for and obtain all of the construction permits needed for your project.
